Hello and welcome to Wisconsin Dells! On behalf of the citizens and businesses, I thank you for exploring our City's web page and learning more about the "City" of Wisconsin Dells. Our City was founded in 1857 by Byron Kilbourn, a railroad executive and surveyor, who plotted the railroad crossing over the Wisconsin River at his newly formed town named "Kilbourn City". As the railroad started to bring visitors, another Dells pioneer named H.H. Bennett helped promote our area's tourism through his photography of the beautiful "Dells of the Wisconsin River" rock formations. By 1931, the city was renamed "Wisconsin Dells" to better identify with the natural landscapes and thus solidify our future in the tourism industry. Today, the Wisconsin Dells area accounts for over $1 billion in state tourism, and we have become a worldwide family destination. As a city, Wisconsin Dells must balance between a relatively small community with big city expectations of services. Although challenging at times, we are able to meet that delicate balance due to the dedication and professionalism provided by the men and women in our city government who serve our residents and visitors alike on a daily basis.

As Mayor, I have initiated some changes that are designed to provide even greater efficiency in our services, and create more opportunities for potential new businesses and residents alike. I have raised our City's commitment to enhancing the safety and cleanliness of our neighborhoods, I have prioritized the revitalization of our downtown and attraction of new business opportunities, and I am working to provide for a more stable and fiscally conservative form of city government. Once again, thank you for taking the time to explore our City's web page. Whether you are a visitor, or a resident, I hope you also take the time to explore our city in person and enjoy all of its offerings throughout each season. When you do, be sure to stop in and say hello.

Brian Landers was born on Chicago, but moved to his aunt's dairy farm in Wisconsin Dells at age 11. Brian graduated from Wisconsin Dells High School in 1989 and went on to study Police Science at Madison Area Technical College and later earned his Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice and Pre-Law, graduating Cumma Sum Laude. For 18 years, Brian served the City of Wisconsin Dells as a police officer, to include being the department's first K-9 Handler and later as a Sergeant and Lieutenant. In 2010, Brian retired from law enforcement and started a new career as a Professor of Criminal Justice at Madison College.

Brian's political service started when he was elected to the first of 3 terms on the Columbia County Board of Supervisors, and was elected Mayor of Wisconsin Dells on April 5, 2011. An avid angler, and practitioner of mixed martial arts, Brian resides in Wisconsin Dells with his wife Karen, and their two dogs Lucie and Jango.

African Americans Are Being Left Out of Current U.S. Economic Growth

If you want to change the outcome for African Americans PLEASE CLICK DONATE! Life Changing Out Reach Programs & Services http://www.gofundme.com/U-S-JOB-CREATION The United States is becoming  much more racially and ethnically diverse . At the same time, it’s becoming more unequal in terms of  wealth  and  income . These two trends are combining in an uncomfortable way: the wealth and income divide is happening along racial and ethnic lines. The typical black household now has just 6% of the wealth of the typical white household; the typical Latino household has just 8%, according to a recent study called  The Racial Wealth Gap: Why Policy Matters , by  Demos , a public policy organization promoting democracy and equality, and the  Institute on Assets and Social Policy . In absolute terms, the median white household had $111,146 in wealth holdings in 2011, compared to $7,113 for the median black household and $8,348 for the median Lat...
